2017 Hyundai Sonata

The 2017 Hyundai Sonata is available in a total of 7 trim levels; including a dynamic Eco model and a svelte Sport 2.0T. The base, SE, Sport, and Limited models are all powered by a 2.4 L four-cylinder engine. All sonatas are front wheel drive; and all models are equipped with a six speed automatic transmission, with the exception of the seven speed Eco model. Interestingly enough; the Eco model has been recorded going 0-60 in just 7.5 seconds, beating its own Sport variation by a full second!

All Sonatas come standard with anti-lock disc brakes, traction and stability control, an air bag laden cabin, and a rear view camera. New Sonatas also offer Blue Link; Hundais innovative emergency telematics system that includes roadside assistance, crash response, remote door lock control, and monitoring features for parents with teenage drivers that include speed, geo-fencing, and curfew limits.

The 2017 Sonata’s standard features include Bluetooth, a USB port, a six-speaker sound system, satellite radio, HD Radio, a 7-inch touch-screen display, and Hyundai’s BlueLink infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The cabin is notably spacious and offers a refreshingly simple and conservative layout; having matured quite a bit over the years. The exterior design of the new Sonata has been matured and simplified similarly to the interior. The tapered shape is still sharp looking, including aesthetic geometric accents and sleek wells for enhanced aero-dynamicity.

The finest feature of the Sonata is its unequaled value. Although given many upgrades this year, Hyundai has lowered the Sonatas price by $150, making it the least expensive car in its class. The Sonata also has a low cost to own thanks to its stellar reliability and excellent gas mileage. The Sonata may not sport a flashy or bold design, but this is a conscious move by Hyundai to cater to a more practical demographic. Amongst a plethora of family oriented vehicles on the market aiming their sights on sportiness and sportiness alone, its refreshing for practical shoppers to have a sensible option that still offers optimal connectivity and comfort. A Sneak Peek at the 2018 Hyundai Sonata

The new 2018 Hyundai Sonata has just been spotted on Facebook. The producers at Hyundai have leaked the sketches for the latest, sleekest, most improved proposal yet. The evolution of the Sonata is upon us. Automakers have reverted back to the essentials of the family sedan and incorporated them into the fresh sporty design. Autoevolution.com said, “Under the concept of “Dramatic Design Change,” the facelifted Sonata’s aim is to introduce “young sensibility” with styling cues borrowed from the all-new Grandeur.

The new sketch illustrates four different Sonatas, which includes two older versions and two newer versions in the foreground. The car farthest left shows a teaser of what appears to be a turbo insignia, giving way to an added trim level.

Hyundai continues to stick to the classic shape of the grille which is hexagonal, stretching down to the bottom of the front bumper, other vehicles that also have a similar grille include the 2018 Elantra GT and the 2018 Accent. The revamped Sonata also integrates an impressive hood design, quad exhaust, and sleek back end. The new design illustrates a variety of angles, it is likely that the production version will tone them down; however, the redesigned Sonata should be sleeker than before.

When the new Sonata will be debuted or what kind of powertrain upgrades will be included is still unknown to the public. An article in Road Show by CNET rumored “Our friends at Motor1 point to rumors of a beefier, 260-horsepower engine on the Sonata 2.0T. The new Sonata could arrive as early as the New York Auto Show in April, but odds are Hyundai will throw out a few more teasers with more info before any proper debut.

The Hyundai Ioniq

The Ioniq Hybrid possesses a 1.6 L gasoline direct injection 4 cylinder with an additional electric motor. That comes in at a combined net of 139 horsepower and 109 lb-ft of torque. It has a 1.6-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack to recapture otherwise wasted energy, returning it to power the electric motor. The Plug-In Hybrid has a similar powertrain with the exception of a more powerful 8.9-kwh battery pack that’s estimated to provide an all-electric range of more than 25 miles. The all electric version is quite different from the hybrids, sporting a 28-kwh battery pack that provides an estimated range of 110 miles via an 88-kw (120-hp) electric motor that is the car's sole source of propulsion. Each model, all-electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid, is based on a vehicle platform designed to enhance efficiency, comfort and handling.

Natural air flow channels emphasize aerodynamic body lines and surface volumes. A sporty, hatchback-like profile is inspired by aerodynamic efficiency, complementing the soft lines and surfaces that trace the car’s outline. The main exterior distinction of the Hybrids from the EV would be the open and active grille shutters that cool the combustion engines for fuel efficiency and deliver a class-leading 0.24 coefficient of drag. Along with a clean, closed grille, the EV also gets a copper colored character line and interior detailing that are meant to create the impression of electricity flowing through the interior.

The interior of the Ioniq features a purified high-tech design concept that also brandishes its eco-conscious side. The pleasing surfaces and textures are the result of the inventive use of eco-friendly materials such as sugar cane and volcanic stone that highlight the assimilation of luxurious constituents with ecological appeal.

The Ioniq offers top of the line features including Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Detection, Smart Cruise Control, smartphone integration and wireless charging. The available MyHyundai with BlueLink App offers remote features that enable conveniences such as monitoring your battery levels and setting a charging time that lets you take advantage of lower, off-peak electric rates. It also comes standard with a 7-inch color touchscreen display with Bluetooth integration, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a rearview camera.

Hyundai is bringing the future to now

Hyundai’s Blue Link service has revolutionized the way a car communicates with its owner via smartphone. And now, at CES 2017 Hyundai has announced its partnership Google Home.

Hyundai Blue Link now partners with whichever smart device you use in your home, whether it is your smartphone, Apple Watch, Android Wear device, Amazon Alexa and now the Google Home.  Hyundai now lets you actually talk to your car, and you don’t have to be on the Jetsons or Knight Rider. With Google Home, you can tell your car to start and warm up or you can make sure your doors are locked without picking up your keys.  Planning a trip? Look up the directions on Google Maps and send it out to the car!

Hyundai’s implementation is one of the first official integrations for controlling a car with a digital home assistant. Additionally, Hyundai claims that it’ll be adding more features.  Hyundai says it will continue to add skills to both Google Home and Amazon Alexa over the coming months, and before you know it, you're going to be able to tell your call to pick you up from work.

It's free, and it's available right now. All you need is a Google Home and a Hyundai car with Blue Link, which can be found on most Hyundai vehicles from as far back as 2013. Check out our Inventory of Hyundai’s and contact us to test drive the future, now.

Hyundai Recalls

Hyundai Motor Co. has recently released information on multiple recalls on different Hyundai models. The Hyundai Tucson, Santa Fe and Sonata all have recalls for different problems.

The 2016 and 2017 Hyundai Tucson as well as the 2017 Santa Fe are both being recalled for a faulty wiring harness for the accessory trailer hitch. The affected vehicles may be equipped with an accessory trailer hitch wiring harness that, due to a malfunction of the tow hitch module, may result, in the trailer brake lights being constantly illuminated. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard. There are 5,669 vehicles affected by this recall. 2016-2017 Tucsons manufactured May 19, 2015, to November 14, 2016, and 2017 Santa Fe vehicles manufactured November 28, 2015, to November 14, 2016.

The 2016 Hyundai Tucson has another recall for it, 41,000 Tucsons are part of this. 2016 Tucson models with seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmissions made from May 20, 2015 to May 31, 2016. Hyundai is reporting of a software glitch can stop the vehicles from accelerating. They said that the engines would rev but the SUVs wouldn’t move after coming to a stop. The problem was intermittent and often didn’t repeat itself, the company said in government documents. Engineers traced the problem to the transmission control computer that monitors driving to refine gear shifting. If the gas pedal is repeatedly cycled, the Tucson’s may not accelerate, increasing the risk of a crash.

Hyundai is also recalling 2015-2016 Hyundai Sonata and Sonata Hybrids with panoramic sunroofs. The problem is that the sunroofs can detach while driving. There are 62,811 Sonatas that are affected, these are built during Sonata Hybrids built from December 8, 2014 to August 18, 2015 and normal Sonatas built from May 28, 2014 to March 18, 2016. The anchor that holds the deflector in place is bonded and that bonding can fail. This can lead to the deflector partially detaching, which can interfere with the glass of the sunroof when closing. This interference can result in the glass detaching entirely from the car. Warning signs of this issue are increased noise with the roof open or a sunroof that doesn't fully close.

Owners will be notified by mail, or they can contact contact Hyundai's customer service to ask about the recall at 1-800-633-5151. Owners can also check their vehicles for recalls by entering their VINs at safercar.gov.
