Hyundai has issued a vast recall and is making plans to
inspect and possibly replace up to 1.3 million vehicles. Affected vehicles
include the Hyundai Sonata and Santa Fe Sport crossover equipped with their 2.0
and 2.4 L “Theta” four cylinder engines. The recall spans across vehicles that
were built in Hyundais plant in Montgomery, Alabama between 2011 and 2014.
Thus far, approximately 10 percent to 20 percent of said
vehicles have reported engine stalls. The issue can contribute to a loud
knocking noise in addition to a loss of power. If the check engine light or
engine oil pressure lights illuminate unexpectedly, be particularly aware of
any issues or noises coming from the engine, as it could be an indication of a
faulty engine.
If your vehicle is liable to be included in the recall, it’s
important to take preventative measures to ensure the safety of your family and
others on the road. This link can send you to Hyundais ‘Recalls and Service
Campaigns’ page, where you can enter your VIN number to find out if your
vehicle is subject to recall, and if it is, can direct you to your free service
before you run into a problem on the road.
Thank you for reading and most
importantly, be safe!
