G90 Tees Off - Genesis and Hyundai Sponsor PGA

For 90 years the Riviera Country Club has been host to one of the oldest events on the PGA Tour. Formerly known as the Los Angeles Open, Nissan Open or most recently the Northern Trust Open, Hyundai Motors announced that they will be the new name sponsor moving forward.

The Captivating Riviera Country Club

In 2008, Hyundai unveiled their newest line of sedans – Genesis. Now entering second generation production, Hyundai made the decision in late 2015 to break the Genesis brand off as its own luxury line intended to compete with other luxury brands like Lexus and Acura.

"We decided to choose hosting the golf tournament as our first marketing activity in the United States because it is a good tool to spread the vision and goals of the Genesis brand."
-Erwin Raphael, Genesis Brand Manager

In order to promote the soon to be independent luxury car maker, the Northern Trust open will now be the Genesis open. Sponsoring this event will bring information about the brand to millions of PGA and CBS viewers early next year. The Tiger Woods Foundation will manage the event for the PGA and it will run from Feb. 13-19, 2017.
